Equity Office Properties Trust was formed in 1976 and was the largest owner of office buildings in the United States until being acquired by the Blackstone Group in 2007. 1740 Broadway, formerly the Mutual of New York Building, is a 26-story building in Midtown Manhattan which is owned by Equity Office Properties. This art-deco tower, designed like the trapezoid-shaped city block, was built in 1950 and renovated in 1987.
