One of the top five questions our customers ask: “Should I clean my coils on a regular basis?”

Cleaning your system’s coils is sometimes overlooked and mostly underestimated in your overall system performance.  If your evaporator coils are dirty they can make your blower motor work harder and use more energy.  It can also reduce the air quality in your office.  If your condenser coils are dirty they can make your condenser fan and compressor work harder and use more energy too.

By keeping your system coils clean, you:

  • Gain significant savings on energy costs
  • Maintain peak operating efficiency
  • Enhance the cooling system’s reliability and service life
  • Prevent costly breakdowns
  • Improve Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)

I recommend getting your coils cleaned at least once a year.  I also encourage the installation of filter racks on your indoor condensing unit coils to help stop outdoor dirt, pollen, etc from clogging the coil too often.  If the simple act of cleaning your coils once a year saves you money and promotes better air quality, my answer to “should I clean my coils on a regular basis?” is definitely yes!
